Santa Cruz, the capital of La Palma, is well known for its houses with balconies.

Along the boulevard, you find several of those typical houses. They remember of the times that the Portuguese visited La Palma frequently.

You can park you car along the coastline, but at high tide, there is a possibility your car gets sprayed with seawater.

The marine museum is housed in a replica of Columbus' ship, the Santa Maria. The ship will never sail, as it is made of stone and concrete.

Santa Maria

The city is very friendly and not to busy with traffic. The buildings are beautiful and, when we were there, still decorated for Christmas. A nice place to live in and to visit.
